The "Brady Bunch" House Was Sold to HGTV

posted by The Rahny Taylor Morning Show -

Over the weekend, a 'Hollywood studio' swooped in and outbid LANCE BASS for the "Brady Bunch" house.  And now, we know who it was.

Yesterday, HGTV said they bought the house, and they're going to, quote, "restore [it] to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can."  Obviously, it'll be part of a show . . . but there's no details on that yet.

They only said, quote, "We'll bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories with this beloved piece of American TV history."

The house was only used for the EXTERIOR shots.  All the indoor scenes were filmed on a set.  So, it's unclear if they'll try to replicate the inside from TV, or simply just return it to how THAT house would've looked in the '70s.

There's no word how much they paid . . . but Lance reportedly offered somewhere around $3 million, more than $1 million over the asking price.

Lance was FURIOUS after he was told he lost the house . . . but apparently, he's a big fan of HGTV, and is a little LESS mad now.

He Tweeted, quote, "HGTV?!  Aw man.  I'd be pretty upset if it were anyone else, but how can you be mad at HGTV?  My TV is stuck on that channel.  Kudos HGTV, I know you'll do the right thing with the house . . . I can smile again."

Interestingly enough, HGTV's Jonathan Scott from "Property Brothers" congratulated Lance after Lance thought he got the house.  Apparently, Jonathan was also bidding on it.

He said, quote, "I'm a little bummed that you outbid me.  Seriously . . . I really wanted that house, but I'm very excited you're taking on this project.  Let me know if you want any help :)"  (So, he didn't know of HGTV's interest?)

(This whole situation is strange . . . but since Lance is an HGTV fan, it wouldn't be surprising if HGTV considered bringing him onboard to be involved in the show somehow . . . maybe even to host it.)

Marcia Marcia Marcia! Im feeling heartbroken today. As many of you may have heard, we placed the winning bid on the iconic Brady Bunch house—at least that’s what we were told. The agent representing the estate informed us we made the winning bid (which was WAY over the asking price) after the final deadline for all offers had passed—even writing up the “winning bid” for my team after informing me of the good news. Isn’t a deadline a deadline? This was a dream come true for me and I spent the night celebrating amongst friends, family, and fans alike. The next day, due to “unforeseen circumstances” the same agent informed us that there’s another Corporate Buyer (Hollywood studio) who wants the house at any cost. We were prepared to go even higher but totally discouraged by the sellers agent, they will outperform any bid with unlimited resources. How is this fair or legal?? How can I compete with a billion dollar corporate entity? I truly believe I was used to drive up the price of the home knowing very well that this corporation intended on making their offer and it’s not a good feeling. I feel used but most importantly I’m hurt and saddened by this highly questionable outcome. I just hope it is not demolished. Thanks for all the love and support. #CrushedDream #ShadyAF #DouglasElliman #ShadyBrady To make me happier you can register and vote November 6th!
